About La Malpensatina
La Malpensatina is a 400-year old stone farmhouse located just outside the hilltown of Radda-in-Chianti. The restored home offers 5 bedrooms and 4 full baths (1 king suite, 2 bedrooms with 1 full or queen-size bed, and 2 bedrooms each with 2 twins). Located on a 30-acre vineyard in the heart of Chianti Classico, the farmhouse is approximately 1 hour south of Florence and 1/2 hour north of Siena.
In Tuscany, the horizons are studded with centuries-old farmhouses, Villas and stately cypress trees; roads wind through vineyards and olive groves. In this slice of earthly bliss, the sun seems to shine brighter and the people seem friendlier. Every village is crammed with ancient stone buildings and shops selling prosciutto, pecorino and fresh ravioli. Be sure to stroll through the narrow lanes of Radda in Chianti and Castellina in Chianti. See the deep red hue of Siena’s main square, the world-famous Campo, stroll along the cobblestone streets of San Gimignano, a walled town high on a hill. Don’t miss Montalcino, where they make the luscious Brunello di Montalcino, justifiably one of Italy’s best known red wines. Indulge yourself in Tuscany’s glorious scenery and ambrosial food and wines.
Radda in Chianti is a Tuscan hill-town in the middle of the Chianti Hills. The site is ancient and its present aspect dates mostly from the 14th to the 17th centuries. It is a major tourist destination in Chianti. There are breathtaking views of the surrounding hills form every side of the town. Radda offers several restaurants and many shops for a small town its size, including excellent wine shops. Just 15 minutes away lies Panzano in Chianti, which overlooks a circular, vineyard-covered valley known as the Conca d’Oro, ‘Golden Shell’, for its ability to trap sunshine. This is the area of Chianti most renowned for its wines, and one of the loveliest. Greve-in-Chianti, 15 minutes to the north, is Chianti’s biggest town and tourism capital, with a lovely 18th-century arcaded piazza containing a slew of local restaurants and shops. Florence and Siena are both about 50 minutes’ drive.
The farmhouse has stunning views over the surrounding landscape, including its own 4 ha/10 acres of vineyards and olive groves. There are potted plants, rose bushes and herb gardens surrounding the house and the swimming pool, which measures 6 x 12m/20 x 39 feet and is set just outside the house on a flagstone terrace. Access to the swimming pool from the house is via a covered patio with a ceramic table comfortably seating 6. Patio and pool furniture include 5 sunbeds, 4 outdoor sitting chairs and 6 metal sitting chairs. Included is also barbecue grill.
The parking area on the western side of the house below the swimming pool is spacious.
We would like to emphasize to our future guests that Malpensatina, due to its historic multi-level farmhouse layout is unfortunately not ADA compliant.
The ground floor is occupied by storage rooms in what was once the farmhouse’s cellar (it is off limits to all guests except family).
The intermediary floor, at the back of the house is occupied by the laundry room (with clotheswashing and drying machines) and two small utility rooms.
Access to the property via the main door is on the second floor, the farmhouse’s main floor, up a flight of outdoor steps. This floor includes a comfortable living room, spacious kitchen, a dining room with large fireplace, two twin bedrooms, one double bedroom and two bathrooms.
On the upper floor, are one twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom, and an apartment comprised of a living room with fireplace, a master bedroom, and en-suite bathroom.
Across from entrance side to the house is a separate covered farm building which can be used to park one car.
Highlight of the property will be, anyway, the fantastic 2-acres park with private swimming pool, beautiful trees and stunning views.
All the bedrooms are nicely furnished with antique pieces and provide plenty of storage space. The 3 bedrooms on the main floor are two doubles and a twin, sharing 2 full sized bathroom with bath. The further 2 bedrooms on the upper floor include a double room with en suite bathroom and the master bedroom, with a comfortable sitting room, a beautiful brass double bed, and a large en-suite bathroom with both bath and shower.
